On March 9th, Jack Ainsworth – previously the senior deputy director – was appointed Acting Executive Director by the California Coastal Commission. In an 11-1 vote, Ainsworth was elected and will serve for an interim term until December 8, 2016, or until a new executive director is appointed, whichever occurs first.
Ainsworth, a 27-year veteran to the California Coastal Commission, replaces Charles Lester who was ousted in a bout of controversy in early February. According to the Coastal Commission, the search and vetting process for a new executive director will take at least six (6) months, but the future appointee will certainly be indicative of the commission’s goals moving forward.
